The Bay Shore Restaurant Committee is keeping it local as its membership gets set to host the first-ever Bay Shore Restaurant Week — with deals stretching from the bay to the downtown area.

The promotion runs from Tuesday, Jan. 16, to Tuesday, Jan. 23.

And with wallets perhaps light after the holidays, the restaurants are offering patrons $17.95 and $24.95 per person prix fixe options.

So this might be the time to go experience some fine dining.

But it’s not just white table clothes either; comfort food favorites like AJ’s Grilled Cheese and Local Burger Co. will be elevating and getting creative in their meal offerings to reach that $17.95 deal.

“The focus is to get people into Bay Shore. There’s a wide variety of restaurants, from grilled cheese, to burgers, to seafood and steaks, and there’s a lot of different options across the spectrum of price ranges and kid-friendly places as well,” said Mike McElwee, a Local Burger co-owner and a member of the committee, which is part of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore.

Diners don’t have to take the prix fixe options, either.

Follow the committee’s Facebook page for updates on participating restaurants.

The idea is to help spread the word that Bay Shore is popping right now for food lovers.

“If you go to one spot but notice three others and come back, we’ve done our job,” McElwee said.
