It’s going to be a memorable and life-changing day in Islip Town Hall for 36 people this Valentine’s Day.
That’s because 18 couples have signed up to be married. The town clerk’s office is extending its hours to 8 p.m. on Feb. 14 to meet the demand.
“Our staff is ready,” said Islip Town Clerk Olga Murray. “It’s such a special day for the bond to begin, and you’ll never forget your wedding anniversary.”
Wedding vows will begin at 9 a.m. and continue all the way to 8 p.m., according to an announcement issued by the town. In addition to a certificate of marriage, the newlyweds will leave with a memento from Islip Town Hall: a votive candle memorializing the day.
Valentine’s Day wedding appointments are booked for 2018.
Appointments are being accepted now for 2019.
