Craft beer, wine, cider, yard games and barbecue sandwiches — all within the expanse of Heckscher State Park.
That’s right, the Long Island Craft Classic is returning to East Islip next month.
New to this year’s party, which happens Saturday, Aug. 10, is axe throwing. (It’s like darts with tiny axes; click here for a news report.)
There will also corn hole, Jenga and more.
The organizers say it’s the summer’s best beer fest on Long Island.
“The ability to sample craft beers, a variety of wines and artisanal hard ciders in a beautiful setting like this state park is one of the reasons this show is so popular,” said Andy Calimano, owner of event producer Starfish Junction.
“We’ve pulled together a great lineup and some fun activities, like axe throwing, to make sure this event continues to keep its reputation as summer’s best fest,” he said.
The festival will feature craft beers from local and national breweries, with VIP and general admission ticket options, each with their own advantages. Scroll down for tickets.
Also returning for a third time to the Long Island Craft Classic is the Brew’d Competition, through which local breweries go head-to-head in a tasting contest.
Each competing brewery must use a fan-curated ingredient and brew a beer (style of their choice) for an on-site attendee fan-favorite vote. This year’s ingredient is mango.
All tickets include a barbecue sandwich from official event caterer Bobbique of Patchogue.
Albums We Love will be performing throughout the day.Tickets are limited and another sell-out is expected, according to Starfish Junction.
VIP access ($75) to the fest starts at 1 p.m. General admission ($55) is at 2 p.m. Aside from the barbecue sandwich, all ticket holders get unlimited beer, wine, and cider. Designated driver tickets are also available ($12), but there’s no alcohol included.
Tickets and additional information is available at LICraftClassic.com.
Heckscher State Park is located at 1 Heckscher State Pkwy. The Park will collect $10 per vehicle for parking, though parking is free for vehicles with a valid NYS Empire Pass.
