A certain rainy day forecast for Tuesday, Aug. 13, has cancelled this week’s installment of the Alive by the Bay festival in downtown Bay Shore, organizers said.

The party is instead being moved to Tuesday, Aug. 20.

“Due to the pending forecast and the overall safety of the public we have decided to postpone tomorrow’s Alive by the Bay event to our scheduled rain date of Tuesday, Aug. 20,” said Mike McElwee of the Bay Shore Chamber’s restaurant committee, which runs the festivals.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” he added.

This is the last Alive by the Bay festival of summer.

McElwee also wanted to take the opportunity today to thank the Suffolk Police Department and Town of Islip for accommodating for the new date.
