Good Samaritan Hospital is weeks away from opening its new Cancer Insitute in West Islip.
Before launching the two-story, 25,000-square-foot facility, the hospital has hired two leadership position for its oncology department.
Dr. Sophia Fu and Lindsay Poscillico were appointed in directorial positions for the cancer center, the hospital informed GreaterBayShore last month.
Fu, a Lindenhurst resident, was named director of breast surgery. She has been in practice for 15-plus years.
“She recently completed a Surgical Society of Oncology-accredited Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at the University of Iowa— Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center,” said a Good Sam spokesperson.
In addition to seeing her patients in West Islip, she will still be operating out of her office in Babylon at 661 Deer Park Avenue.
Poscillico, who previously worked as an administrative supervisor at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, was hired to be the administrative director of the Cancer Insitute.
While at Sloan Kettering, she managed the daily operations of 17 physician office assistants and physician office specialist across six regional locations consisting of 30 physicians and three nurse practitioners, according to her LinkedIn page.
She currently lives in Mineola with her husband, Michael.
