The Islip Town Beach’s pavilion and gazebo each just got a new roof.
The Town of Islip, whose Department of Public Works undertook the projects, announced their completion last week.
The old roofs were over 20 years old, having been constructed in the 1990s, according to the town.
“Maintaining the structural integrity of our buildings helps ensure that future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy the many beautiful outdoor spaces throughout the Town of Islip,” Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said in a statement.
Islip Town Beach, which is at the southernmost end of South Bay Avenue in Islip Hamlet (map below), also offers a playground and dining options overlooking the Great South Bay.
