It was a moment that these two will remember for a very long time.
On Friday, Ohio’s Ashley Brayton landed at Long Island MacArthur Airport where she finally got to meet Medford resident Raymond Miehl, who she has a strong personal connection to.
The 62-year-old Miehl was a heart transplant recipient from Brayton’s father, Ronnie Davis. Davis died on March 1, 2016 at the age of 46. Two days later, Miehl received his heart.
Due to the long distance, it took a few years to meet up, but even being a few years removed from the transplant, the emotions were still very raw.
Upon meeting, Miehl embraced Brayton with a big hug and kiss on the cheek.
“I would definitely ask people to donate,” said Miehl. ” My wife is a donor, my daughter’s a donor. I don’t know if I could be, but if I could, I would definitely be a donor. And I think that people would definitely benefit from other people being donors”
Brayton was beyond happy to know that a part of her father still lives on.
“I say you can’t take your organs to heaven, so you might as well give somebody a fighting chance that might not otherwise have one,” she said.
