The owners and three staffers from Verde Kitchen & Cocktails and Coastal Kitchen & Daiquiri Bar in Bay Shore have just taken possession of Brightwaters Inn.

They got to work yesterday on improving the space to establish a new neighborhood bar and grille in the heart of the village.

But fear not, Inn loyalists. The new owners are keeping the pool table. They’re keeping the dart board, too.

And, they’re keeping the name.

“It’ll be Brightwaters Inn,” said Anthony Tartaglia, who owns Verde and Coastal with his brother, Andrew, both of Bay Shore.

The brothers have added James Howell, Nick Ketcham, and Ian Soukup — O.G. staffers from Verde and Coastal — to the Brightwaters Inn ownership team as well.

Tartaglia, who spoke to GreaterBayShore on Wednesday, said they all liked the space at 200 Orinoco Drive because “it’s a good neighborhood bar.”

“We’re not doing anything fancy,” he said.

Tartaglia said similar things in 2016 about Coastal, which opened in January 2018 in the old Bay Shore Furriers building on Main Street.

The vision for Coastal was to build out a modern, cool restaurant and bar with an old-school neighborhood vibe — thus the darts, billiards and shuffleboard.

What resulted was a mega-hit; Coastal is jam-packed every night of every weekend, and often during the day.

The prior Brightwaters Inn owners took over the place about two years ago.

“They made some nice upgrades and improvements,” Tartaglia said of the old owners.

“We’re going to continue down that path with more, minor improvements. We’re re-doing the kitchen, the bar, and making the backyard really nice for the warmer months.”

“We’re going to maintain the integrity of the space,” he added.

As for the food, Tartaglia says the Inn will be serving up standard pub food, with an emphasis on burgers and wings.

Remembering where they came from, the Inn bartenders will also be pouring Verde margaritas and Coastal daiquiris. “With maybe two to three other, very approachable drinks,” Tartaglia said. “We are also keeping as much of the staff as possible. We want a smooth transition and the old owners spoke very highly of everyone, so we’ll be looking to continue those relationships as well.”

The team is planning to open the new Brightwaters Inn next month.
