Suffolk County is still on “pause” amid the COVID-19 outbreak, but The Ocean Bay House on the water near downtown Bay Shore has been deemed essential.

They are very much open for business for a nice little escape from home. Bookings can be done online.

“The thing is, The Ocean Bay House is so large, and so beautiful, people can enjoy their stays at a comfortable distance from others naturally,” says manager Colleen McGrath.

“It’s a gem for Bay Shore and, like the restaurants are,, people should know that we’re here and open for them if they need an escape.”

The Ocean Bay House opened in May of 2018, after about a year of construction and the furnishing of its nine bedrooms and several common areas.

The historical colonial at 69 Ocean Avenue, which has a large front deck and in-ground pool, was completely transformed in the process.

The house was built in 1890 as a summer cottage for the wealthy who didn’t want to stay at the neighboring Prospect Hotel, which was large enough to accommodate 200 visitors before it burned down in 1903, according to the Bay Shore Historical Society website.

Now The Ocean Bay House serves for entertainment purposes once again. Click here to book. Scroll down for some interior photos.
