It’s going to be a very odd summer.
As the coronavirus persists into the warmer months, Bay Shore’s chamber of commerce and business improvement district made the move to cancel several marquee events.
In an announcement on Tuesday, chamber head Donna Periconi reminded the community about the cancellation of Arts Festival by the Bay, which was scheduled originally for June 14, as well as the Fourth of July concert on Main Street via a release.
“In order to protect the public, we are unable to hold special events in downtown Bay Shore this summer,” she wrote.
She also said the Summer Brown-Bag Lunchtime Concert Series and the weekly Symphonic Band performances at the bandshell won’t happen this summer.
There’s no word yet on Bay Shore’s popular summer street festival series, Alive by the Bay, aside from it being postponed indefinitely by event organizers.
