The Bay Shore community helped its homegrown TV personality Joe La Puma win his second Webby Award for Best Host/Web Personality.
The Webbys, known as the “The Internet’s highest honor” by the New York Times, awards excellence in online entertainment and media.
La Puma earned the designation by winning the people’s choice for his hit YouTube show “Sneaker Shopping with Complex,” which also airs on MSG Networks.
It’s the second year in a row he won this honor.
“To win back-to-back Webby’s is something I don’t take for granted and to win in this category is truly an honor,” said La Puma, who learned of his best host title in late May. “The people voted on this award and I was getting hit up from fans all over the world — Greece, Italy, India etc…messaging me their support.”
He also gave props to his home.
“I’m also constantly reminded of how strong the Bay Shore community is,” said La Puma, who is also the VP of Content Strategy for Complex Networks. “In the past two years during the voting process, they have showed up for me tremendously.
“It’s that tight-knit community that makes the town a special place, and this is a shared W for us.”
