A free drive-in movie series is coming to the Town of Islip.
On Monday, June 15, the Town of Islip Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs will be hosting the first movie night at the Dick’s Sporting Goods parking lot of the Westfield South Shore Mall in Bay Shore.
“Mary Poppins Returns” will be the debut film for the series. Gates will be open at 7 p.m. with the movie starting at 8:30 p.m.
While the show is free, the town will be accepting non-perishable donations for the Islip Food For Hope Food Pantry that night.
“We are very pleased to be involved in this fun, family-friendly initiative,” said Vanessa Mitton, the marketing director of the Westfield South Shore. “Thank you to the Town of Islip for including Westfield South Shore in this new tradition that will be enjoyed and appreciated by so many this summer.”
The series, sponsored by the Catholic Health Services of Long Island, will run weekly around the town through September. Make sure to check the town’s Facebook page for the next flick.
“Summertime is here, and while certain COVID-19 restrictions remain in place, drive-in movies are a way for families to maintain social distancing while enjoying an evening together,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter on the outdoor initiative. Embed from Getty Images
