Rock City Dogs, the craft hot dog-meets rock and roll mecca planned for Bay Shore, is back on track. The owners are now looking at a late fall or early winter opening, GreaterBayShore has learned.

“Everyone’s waiting for these hot dogs,” said co-owner and longtime rock-and-roller Stevie Reno.

The original plan was to open this summer, but the state’s COVID-19 containment measures put a screeching halt to that.

“Now they’re building, finally, after a year and a half of trials and tribulations,” said Reno, who’s using Kerzner Contracting Corp. of Bohemia for the job. “And they’ve got a full crew in there,” he added.

Rock City is located at Maple Avenue and East Main Street, within the newly renovated mixed-use building, 1 East Main, that was recently featured by GreaterBayShore. (Click here for a photo tour.)

Gauging interest in Rock City from social media and passersby, Reno says pent-up demand has only built during the pandemic, with people asking the same question constantly: When are you guys opening?

“It’s like crazy,” he told reporter Michael White. “It’s pent up. Everybody knows. Everybody’s excited. It’s Rock City Dogs, Mike!”
